Bicol’s Cable Wakeboarding Spot

My father is a Bicolano (a native of Bicol). If there’s something going on in his hometown, surely, he’ll be one of the first ones to know. So when Bicol got famous of its virgin tourist spots, my father invited us to check out some interesting stuff initialized in their place. He brought us to try Cable Wakeboarding.

My kind of sport!

Cable Wakeboarding is one of the hottest sports today! It’s like skateboarding on top of the water. With the use of a wakeboard and a cable to get you going, you can enjoy gliding on water surface. Thrill never leaves you from the moment you gear yourself up till the time you leave the place. You might need to pack some will and courage though to be able to try again after falling. But I assure you that it would seem like an achievement to be able to stand in that wakeboard for some time. It takes some strong muscles in your arms and legs to keep up with the pressure pulling you. But then again, it’s really worth a try.

Check out Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC). It’s one of the most famous cable wakeboarding places here in the Philippines. Located in Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur. A large area is attributed to cable wakeboarding; they have a man-made lake with the cables installed in the side. 20090408-BICOL-D80-0033 20090408-BICOL-S3IS-0022

Gears are up for rentals for a fee; it’s a bit pricey though. But if you feel like it’s a kind of investment, you can always buy your own stuff within the vicinity. They have stores by the side selling whatever you need in wakeboarding. Although I’m not sure whether they have the best gears, I can assure you that it looks pretty decent and ready for your adrenalin rush.

 A windy day at CWC

For those who are not much interested in Cable Wakeboarding and for the kids tagged with you, there are two more pools to enjoy also located in CWC. There is one inflatable’s pool, especially designed for the kids, opposite the wakeboarding area and another swimming pool beside the dining cottages. The inflatable’s pool is a mimic of a children’s playground; full of inflatable slides, houses placed above the water. Any kid will surely enjoy playing in this pool!

 The playground above the water!

The other pool is fit for kids and adults. It’s a conventional swimming pool for anyone who wishes to swim and relax. Anyone who’s in for a splash is welcome. It is located side by side with the clubhouse and restaurant. So, anyone who feels hungry can have a quick bite without getting too far away.

Be sure to stop by Bicol Region and visit CWC. It’s the perfect summer getaway for your friends and families. You wouldn’t wanna miss this for summer!

Trip to Calaruega

Going for a drive? Looking for a place to unwind? Well, I can suggest a place where you can relax yourself and not worry about the long drive. Tagaytay is a nice place. It’s only two hours from Manila. It’s cool and the wind breeze is really refreshing. It also got lots of sceneries waiting to be discovered.

Perhaps you have heard of Calaruega. It’s located in Brgy. Kaylaway, Batulao, Nasugbu Batangas. It’s just a little way past Tagaytay. It’s a really nice place; perfect for nature tripping! It’s open to the public with an entrance fee of just P60 per person (as of Sep2009). It’s really worth seeing!

When you meet the entrance, you’ll see a big church-like building with a few stairs heading up.
Bring the whole family with you!
It’s leading to the rooms and dormitories available for retreatants. It

also got a souvenir shop inside. They’ve got religious and cute items for pasalubong.

Calaruega has a massive land area. It might not be visible as you enter but when you explore it, you’ll find out. Explore right up and you’ll find a long stairwell with a lot of detours leading to different places.
Make your way to the topThey have a few signs like these to keep you on track
It leads to many rooms for those who wanted to spend a day or a night inside. Cottages are also available for those who are looking for a mini home inside the nature haven. They have a few eating venues. I think Plaza de Aza is one of them. The “tuktok” referred in the picture is the chapel. Just a small chapel but well constructed and maintained. In the outside it is a uniquely shaped brick entity; in the inside is an elegant stained glass altar with a picturesque wood complementing the interior.

A church on a hill top!

Isn't it inviting?

I think it’s perfect for weddings; making the stairwell the runway to the altar. Very romantic!

Other than that, if you explore further down, you’ll see a trail leading to a man-made mini falls with a pond of fishes. It’s a really nice place to hangout; delicately landscaped to create a peaceful feeling. It’s one of my favorite areas here.
Better if you see this in person.
You’ll also see an adjacent hanging bridge visible from this area.
We're at the entrance of the hanging bridge.
It’s a few meters away from the pond. It leads to a small hill where you can see most of the places in Calaruega from the top. The way up the hill was really breath-taking as well as the scenic view when you reach the top.

You might find time giving a visit sometime. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

A Whole New Meaning for Veggies!

It’s my first time roaming downtown in Baguio and I must say I got really tired and hungry checking out the fun stuff the city’s got. So our next stop will definitely be a restaurant that can fill our stomachs and satisfy our cravings.
Oh My Gulay!
A cousin of mine suggested a pretty amazing place to eat. He said that it’s rather famous in Baguio and we’ll sure to enjoy the views the restaurant has to offer. The restaurant is known as ‘Oh My Gulay!’.
 Rocky Mountains!
Oh My Gulay is known for its interiors. When you enter the restaurant, it’s like a totally different place from the outside. You can never imagine that you’re just inside the rooftop of a building. It has the nature look combined with ethnic casualties. It’s got lots of voodoo doll-like creatures lying around the area.  It has rocky terrains, a pond, a balcony, a stage, and a really huge ship in which you can dine on top; decorations hanging here and there all over the place. They’ve got hanging wood designs made up of things you wouldn’t think of using as a decoration. Hands down to them; they gave a whole new meaning for creativity.

Dahil walang nagpe-perform sa stage, Kami nalang ang magpe-perform!
A stage is available for performances
Cheese!
Mini Balconies for visitors like us!

Hungry as I am, surely I am interested in their menu. There were lots of appetizing Desserts Galore!dishes to choose from. I wonder how each of these tastes? One thing’s for sure though, we’re gonna eat like vegetarians in this place. If you’re up to Vegetarian cuisine, then Oh My Gulay is definitely for you. If you’re not, then you can just enjoy the interiors and the desserts maybe. I must say that everything we ordered tastes unique; not too common but pretty tasty for a veggie.

Toast and Veggies!
How do you think this tastes?
Lots of fun and a fine dining experience! Check it out when you go to Baguio.
